A 16-Year-Old Youth Shot When Gunfire Erupts in North Hollywood
Confrontation in Sun Valley ends up in shooting, suspect is in custody.

A 16-year-old suspect that was being followed by police was fired upon after he pulled a semi-automatic weapon, according to North Hollywood police. The youth is responding well after surgery, reports are this morning.
The confrontation occurred at 6:35 p.m. Monday night in the residential area of Sun Valley after two Los Angeles Police officers, possibly undercover, confronted the youth.
Lt. Andy Neiman said the gunfire occurred at Morella Avenue and Saticoy Street in Sun Valley. The 16-year-old was shot and police officers were uninjured.

It is unclear how many shots were fired, or who fired first. Neighbors told NBC-TV they heard about half a dozen shots.
