American Express Sues Weinstein Co. For $1.3 Million In Charges
The company, founded by disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, is being sued by the finance company.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- American Express filed a lawsuit against Weinstein Company, the studio co-founded by disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, just days after it filed for bankruptcy. Once a major film studio in Hollywood, the company has struggled to recover after dozens of women accused Weinstein of sexual abuse.
The Blast said it obtained documents filed by American Express that show the finance company is owed more than $1.3 million in charges made by Weinstein executives.
Weinstein Company's board of directors announced Sunday that it would file for bankruptcy after the company failed to find a buyer.

Weinstein has been at the center of backlash after more than 80 women accused him of wrongdoing, including A-List actresses such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie. His alleged victims have inspired other victims of sexual abuse to speak out in a campaign called the #MeToo movement.
The Los Angeles District Attorney is currently investigating the accusations against Weinstein.
