Double Rainbows Mark the End of the Storms

A stunning sunset over Studio City marks an appropriate end to a week of rains.

Cars stopped off the side of Mulholland Drive overlooking Studio City. On the freeways, people slowed to look up into the skies.

Stunning full-arched double rainbows dotted the skies just before the sun set over the San Fernando Valley, marking a beautiful end to nearly a week of constant rainfall.

First, there were thunderstorms and lightning in the afternoon, the last of the torrential storm that wreaked havoc in other parts of the state. A few big boulders fell into some streets, a few minor mudslides slipped into the roadways, but for the most part, Studio City survived unscathed.

And so, the final chapter of the double rainbows was a fitting end to the winter storms that dropped 10 inches of rain in the area.

The National Weather Service expects the temperatures to warm up to 59 degrees on Thursday and then into the mid-60s for most of the rest of the weekend, with rain at a minimum.

There's still a 70 percent chance of rain overnight, and it's going to be partly cloudy on Thursday, with only a slight chance of rain.
