Ducks Crossing the Freeway Could Cause Quack Up

Ducks are crossing from Griffith Park and ignoring the traffic.

They're back: unlucky ducks were trying their luck on the Golden State (5) Freeway again today.

Ducks, as you may recall, have been proliferating Studio City—in and on the streets (.)

California Highway Patrol officers were alerted again today that ducks were walking in the fast lane on the 5 Freeway near Griffith Park. CHP officers were told the dangerous situation was developing on the northbound 5 at Fletcher Drive.

Four weeks ago, a similar web-footed scramble by a mother duck and her brood caused severe traffic congestion, as some motorists stopped in the fast lane to try to give the ducks a break.

That feathered near-mayhem prompted two CHP advisories for the web- footed pedestrian hazards on April 22.

At last report today, the ducks were on the northbound freeway's fast lane at Fletcher Drive.

The speed limit there is 65 miles per hour, and officers said it was dangerous and no quacking matter.
