Ellen DeGeneres's Vegan Eatery in Studio City Looks Like It's Been Scrapped

The new place was supposed to be at Bokado.

While we heard the rumors earlier in May, there are now new details proving that the vegan eatery announced last year by Ellen DeGeneres, wife Portia de Rossi, “Pretenders” singer Chrissie Hynde, and Producer Steve Bing have been (hopefully temporarily) scrapped.

The new business was supposed to open up earlier this year in the space once occupied by  tapas joint “Bokado” in Studio City, CA. It was to be designed by Waldo Fernandez, with a menu courtesy of famed vegan chef Tal Ronnen.

According to Eater LA, Bokado owner Frank Leon has confirmed that the vegan restaurant plans have fallen through. In its place will be a gastropub called The Village. Despite serving dishes like Beef & Lamb Sliders with Capers Remoulade and Pancetta Wrapped Tuna Tartar, Leon also plans to honor Ellen’s vision “by serving a few of her favorite vegan dishes.”
