2003 made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to Music

2005 honoured by Massey University with an Honorary Doctorate of Music.

RODGER FOX’S WELLINGTON JAZZ ORCHESTRA – 2012 July Tour to the USA.

 Capitol Studio A housed in the famous Capitol Records Tower in the heart of Hollywood, the home to some of the greatest recordings in modern music history. Past work has included recordings from iconic masters such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, The Beach Boys, Robbie Williams, Patrick Williams (2011 Grammy Winning CD) and Green Day.

Traveling to San Francisco for performances at Yoshi’s Jazz Room , Las Vegas for the Nevada Jazz Society then onto Los Angeles for a performance at Vitello’s jazz club with the crowning component of the tour  being to record the bands second CD at the famed Capital Recording Studios in Los Angeles.

 Background on Rodger Fox’s Wellington Jazz Orchestra:

Wellington’s premier big band featuring the capitals finest jazz talent. Founded by New Zealand jazz-big band legend RODGER FOX this band covers all bases.

Sizzling ensemble playing, stunning soloists and the desire to give people a good time through music.

Members of the WJO have performed with some of the biggest names in jazz including Michael Brecker, Bill Cunliffe, Joe Williams, Louie Bellson, Bob Sheppard, Bruce Forman, Bill Reichenbach, Jim Pugh and …….to name but a few. This  experience impacts on the band in a very positive way and it is hoped the band can further develop this link with national and international artists and become the jazz orchestra of choice for visiting jazz musicians.

ERNA FERRY – VOCAL ARTIST

Erna Ferry has come to jazz via years of performing in commercial and blues
based band throughout the Manawatu region in New Zealand, as well as
experience in performing Theatre with roles in major musical productions the
likes of Slice of Saturday Night , Hair and The Best Little Whore House in
Texas.

Since discovering jazz, Erna has performed at all the leading jazz festivals
throughout New Zealand, namely the Tauranga, Rotorua, Bay of Islands,
Manawatu and Wanganui festivals.
