John Walker Encourages Attendance at Universal Expansion Plan Meeting

The proposal for Universal will be discussed Tuesday morning. A message from John Walker, the SCNC President.

- LATEST PROPOSAL & JOIN US FOR OUR AUGUST BOARD MEETING.

New Information on Universal Project

The project at Universal Studios has been revised to include 1.45 million square feet of office space for media firms, a 327,000 square feet expansion of Universal Studios and two 500-room hotels. The 3,000 residential units previously featured have been deleted and the focus will instead be on entertainment, film and tourism amenities, e.g. a Harry Potter themed amusement park. The project proposal does still require the developer to spend $100 million on transportation improvements, including widening nearby streets, adding an off-ramp to the nearby freeway, etc.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to hear the details of the project, including an estimate on how it will impact surrounding neighborhoods in the short and long term. At the hearing, the environmental impact report will be available for review. Most importantly, the hearing will give everyone an opportunity to be heard about the project.

The meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 in Van Nuys City Hall Council Chambers, located on the 2nd floor of 14410 Sylvan St., Van Nuys 91401. Councilmember Krekorian welcomes your thoughts and input about the new proposal as well, contract anytime by calling (213) 473-7002.

AND PLEASE ATTEND OUR , WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15, 2012 AT THE CBS STUDIO CENTER LOT.  Come join us for a light buffet dinner at 6:30pm,  with our meeting scheduled to start at 7pm.
