Local Gal Margie Stewart, Military Pin-Up Girl, Dies at 92

She is remembered also for her pet turtle Caesar.

Longtime Studio City resident Margie Stewart, who sold more than 94 million pin-up posters when she posed as the first U.S. military official pin-up girl, died of pneumonia recently. She was 92.

After WWII she retired from modeling and lived with her husband, Jerry Johnson, in Studio City, where together they produced concerts at the Hollywood Bowl for acts such as the Beatles and the Beach Boys.

Longtime Studio City resident Patrice Berlin said that she was a dear friend and "she was also survived by many friends who loved her dearly and her loving tortoise of 55+ years Caesar."
