As expected, the Superman reboot "Man of Steel" had a heroic opening weekend, setting a record for a June film debut, according to final figures released today.
"Man of Steel" opened with $116.6 million, according to Hollywood.com Box Office. But the strong opening still fell short of the debut of "Iron Man 3," which earned $174.1 million in its first weekend nearly two months ago.
The apocalyptic comedy "This is the End" also had a strong opening, earning $20.7 million during the otherwise Superman-dominated weekend. The magician caper "Now You See Me" continued to attract audiences, holding onto third place with $11 million.
