Mulholland Driving Treacherous After Rains
Boulders block some sections of the road, making it hazardous, and some through-streets are blocked.
Mulholland Drive between Coldwater Canyon and the Cahuenga Pass lining the top of the Studio City boundaries, is a hazardous drive the day after the torrential rains have stopped.
Early Thursday morning, boulders the size of ice chests blocked the uphill road of Mulholland from the Cahuenga Pass just before the Hollywood Bowl overlook, and fire trucks came out to cordon off the road, but traffic still has to swerve carefully into oncoming traffic on the two-lane road to get around it.
Meanwhile, near the Universal Overlook toward Laurel Canyon Boulevard, where the road collapsed a year ago, cones are staggered about two feet into the roadway because of puddles that haven't yet run off.

Mud flowing down the hill on Mulholland west of Laurel Canyon toward Coldwater Canyon continues to make driving hazardous and basketball-sized boulders line the roadway there.
The Cal-Trans expects to get the cones off the road and cleared by the end of the day.

A fallen eucalyptus tree fell down across Outpost Drive, one of the shortcuts from Studio City to Hollywood. It completely blocked the street, cutting off a major thoroughfare and diverting the scene Hollywood tour buses that often take tourists through the area.
The Outlook Outback is down to one lane late Thursday after being completely blocked most of the day, but the , and the shortcuts are still debris-free.
