Rains Knock Down Some Branches in the Hills

Wet weather is expected to last throughout the weekend, but Thanksgiving is expected to be fine.

Tree branches brought down by an overnight downpour, blocking parts of Mulholland Drive and other hillside streets along Wrightwood Drive, have been cleared.

With winds gusts up to 60 mph, some big branches from dry trees cracked and fell on the roadways. No accidents or injuries related to the fallen branches were reported.

Expect occasional showers through Monday, with cool weather in the early part of the week. However, weather forecaster are predicting beautiful conditions for Thanksgiving Day.

Tree People's monthly Full Moon Hike scheduled for 5 p.m., with reservations near capacity, is still being planned. A Tree People member said it will be canceled only if there is a downpour.

A Blood Drive at the Studio City Hand Car Wash is planned on Monday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The car wash will be closed, but the blood donations will be going strong, and everyone who gives a pint will receive a free car wash coupon, to be used anytime in the future.

Weather forecasts predict a slow-moving storm front may generate up to a half-inch of rain per hour. Snow levels are expected to drop to 3,500 feet by Monday, which means that snow caps will be visible from the Studio City hills.

The 80 percent chance of rain will drop to 70 percent on Sunday and 30 percent Monday. By Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, the weather is expected to be sunny again with highs of 68 degrees that will last throughout the following weekend.

Something else to be thankful for.
