Red Flag Warning Issued For LA County As Region Remains On Alert

If a fire is ignited, there is potential for rapid spread as the region will have strong winds, the National Weather Service said.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA -- A Red Flag Warning was issued Saturday for Los Angeles County. The National Weather Service said the warning takes effect from 9 p.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Sunday.

The agency said northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 35 mph are expected in the foothills, while humidity will be 15 to 25 percent.

The agency also predicted "there will be the potential for very rapid spread of wildfire, long range spotting, and extreme fire behavior that could lead to a threat to life and property" if a fire is reported.

The warning comes after Los Angeles County experienced three brush fires earlier this month, and as the Thomas Fire continues to burn in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
