Strong Winds Topple Tree on Cahuenga Boulevard

San Fernando Valley wind gusts have gone up to 20 mphs, knocking over this large tree.

High wind gusts over the past night and during the day Saturday caused a large potted tree along Cahuenga Boulevard, just before it turns into Ventura Boulevard, to topple over in Studio City.

The tree in front of the building at 3599 Cahuenga Blvd. toppled over onto the sidewalk and into a car space Saturday afternoon. No cars or people were injured according to a security guard, who estimated the tree at half a ton.

The sidewalks was blocked but no traffic was interrupted.

Winds gusted in the area as high as 55 mphs in the area (Malibu had it the worst), with highs in Studio City recorded by the National Weather Service at 22 mphs, which is close to the record high of 23 for the month. A high-wind advisory for Santa Barbara, Ventura and  Los Angeles counties area was issued early Saturday.

Police and fire officials have heard of no other wind-related injuries.
