A bit of history for the generous Herbert Yates.
He donated over 25 acres of land for many of us in Studio City to play Little League Baseball. It was located on Moorpark Street, where Studio village is now located.

We had three separate leagues and fields. We had some famous coaches for our teams. Tom Harmon, an all-Ameican football player was a coach. His son, Mark, of NCIS was our Bat Boy.
Glen Davis, the all american football player from Army was called "Mr Outside" He was our coach. Another coach was the ABC World Of Sports commentator and former New York Giant football star.

Yates finally sold the land to Dennis Devine, the son of Andy Devine, Jingles of Hoopalong Cassidy. Bottom line, Mr. Yates should be given much credit for the athletic development and teamwork of many young boys (no girls then) in Studio City.

The Republic Pictures 7th Anniversary Celebration is for the entire family with lectures, serials and trailers, live performances of swing and Western music, entertainment by gun spinners, rope twirlers, trick horses, cowboy poets, and a diverse collection of memorabilia. In addition, a speakers forum with prominent industry experts and Republic celebrities will discuss a range of topics from creating sci-fi special effects to tales of working at Republic Pictures.
