Review by Donovan Sylla
Hi, I’m Donovan Sylla and my Uncle Mike took me to “After Earth.”
Three words would have to describe the movie: intense, funny and kind of startling.
I was on the edge of tears of joy at the end. I jumped out of my seat a couple of times.
It was a feel-good movie with a lot of action. I think my friends would like it a lot.
I’m pretty sure that my friends would enjoy it, and girls, if they are tomboys may not mind it, but it’s a little scary. I probably wouldn’t recommend to girls as much as to boys.
It’s a good Father’s Day movie. I can understand that it’s PG-13 completely. You shouldn’t let an 8-year-old go see it. It’s not that bad, but it might scare them.
Mom would probably not like it because she doesn’t like sci-fi. My brother wanted to see it, he’s 17 and I recommend it for him and his friends.
There are a lot of good concepts, like everyone having to evacuate Earth because they were destroying the world. On a different planet they had this weird creature that they were going to use for practice, but they fell into an asteroid storm and only two people survived—Will and Jaden Smith. I liked Jaden in the “Karate Kid” remake, he was very good.
When I got home my heart was still racing. It was good, but don’t see it on a school night.
