Homicide Investigation Triggers 101 SigAlert

The SigAlert was issued around noon Tuesday after a body was found near the Sunset Boulevard offramp.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Police investigation of a homicide prompted the closure of a portion of northbound Highway 101 on Tuesday. The SigAlert was issued around noon Tuesday.

California Highway Patrol officials said the Sunset Boulevard offramp would be blocked for about three hours.

A man's body was found Tuesday near an offramp from the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway in Hollywood, police said. He suffered head trauma, and his death was investigated as a homicide.

Officers went to the area near the Sunset Boulevard offramp about 8 a.m. on a report of a man on the ground with an apparent head injury, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The name of the man, who may have been a transient, was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
No arrests were reported.
