The trunk line work that forced the closure of Coldwater Canyon for nearly a month is over, but the work is yet to be done.
The closure will prevent devastating flooding that occurred in homes and businesses about five years ago, and some of those photos were sent in to Patch and are in a photo gallery above.
Here is the latest information:
LADWP Trunk Line Construction crews have completed connecting approximately 2,700 feet of new 60-inch diameter welded steel pipe to replace a critical section of 99-year old, riveted steel pipe along Coldwater Canyon Avenue. LADWP crews began implementing daily street closure on Coldwater Canyon Avenue between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive on March 23, 2013 to perform the work. The closure ended on April 23.
LADWP crews will next establish a new work zone on Coldwater Canyon Avenue between Bloomfield Street and Valleyheart Drive (North.)*Please note the revised date for striping of this work zone to begin is scheduled for May 23, 2013, followed by the start of construction. Construction in this new zone is expected to be completed in December 2013.
Overall, the project is 41% complete as of April 30, 2013 and is anticipated to be completed in September 2015.
