Whiz Kids: College Enrollments, Honor Rolls and Graduations in Studio City

Help congratulate local youths Alex Gould, Jordan Vallejo, Danielle Wiitala, Lynette Miller, Noa Naftali and Nicole Chang.

Alex Gould of Studio City, has enrolled at the University of Evansville.

Gould, majoring in Sport Communication, joins an entering class defined by its strong academic ability and diversity. Members of the freshman class averaged 1176 on the SAT's critical reading and math components. (The national average, as reported by SAT, is 1011.) They also scored an average of 26 on the ACT, compared to a national average of 21. Members of the University of Evansville's 2012 entering class represent 31 states and 17 countries.

Jordan Vallejo of Studio City, joined the Boilermaker community by participating in the annual Boiler Gold Rush program at Purdue University's West Lafayette campus.

The mission of Boiler Gold Rush is to orient new students and their families during their transition to Purdue by creating a fun and stimulating environment, providing access to opportunities on Purdue's campus and in the Lafayette/West Lafayette community, and by offering meaningful activities and leadership opportunities to encourage student success.

Danielle Wiitala, a English, BA major and a resident of Valley Village, was among more than 4,200 students who graduated from the University of Houston (UH).

Noa Naftali of Studio City, class of 2013, made the Dean's List at Tufts University. Dean's List honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

Tufts enjoys a global reputation for academic excellence and for the preparation of students as leaders in a wide range of professions.

 

Studio City resident and Azusa Pacific University student Lynette Miller made the academic Dean's List at APU. Miller is honored for a spring semester 2012 academic standing of a 3.5 or better grade-point average. A Social Work Major, Miller is joined by 1,650 other students receiving the same honor.

Nicole Chang of Studio City has graduated from California Lutheran University.

Chang graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication . Chang was among 672 students who were eligible to participate in the Forty-Ninth Annual Undergraduate Commencement on May 12.

CLU is a selective university located in Thousand Oaks, Calif, with centers in Oxnard and Woodland Hills for graduate courses and its Adult Degree Evening Program. With an enrollment of 4,100 students, CLU offers 37 undergraduate majors and graduate programs within the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Management and Graduate School of Education.
