1 Dead in Solano County Hwy 12 Collision

BREAKING: The head-on collision involved a sedan and a big-rig.

A driver of a Buick sedan was killed in a head-on crash with a big-rig on state Highway 12 near Lambie Road in unincorporated Solano County southeast of Fairfield on the afternoon of Jan. 10, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The male driver, possibly a Vacaville resident, was going west on Highway 12 when he crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the tractor-trailer big-rig around 3 p.m., CHP Officer David Harvey said.
The Buick driver was ejected onto the side of the road and was pronounced dead at the scene, Harvey said. There were no passengers in either vehicle, Harvey said.

Highway 12 was open in one direction late this afternoon and eastbound traffic backed up roughly two miles to Walters Road, Harvey said.

It's unknown if the fatal crash is weather related, Harvey said.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- One person has died in a fatal collision on eastbound state Highway 12 east of Fairfield the afternoon of Jan. 10, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The head-on collision around 3 p.m. involved a sedan and a big-rig, according to the CHP. The Solano County coroner's office was summoned at 3:27 p.m.
