Hand Deliver Vote-By-Mail Ballots If Not In Mail Already

SOLANO COUNTY – Voters are encouraged to hand deliver their ballots for Tuesday’s election if their vote-by-mail ballot isn’t already in the mail.

Ballots must be physically received by the Registrar of Voters office by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, to be part of the official count.  A postmark indicating the ballot was sent before Tuesday does not constitute a valid ballot, according to State election laws.

“Your vote is too important to take the risk,” said Deputy Registrar of Voters John Gardner.

The Registrar of Voters office will be open on Saturday for people to drop off the vote-by-mail ballots as well as conduct other voting business.

Voters can drop off ballots on Monday or Tuesday at the Registrar’s office on the second floor of the County Administration Center, 675 Texas Street in Fairfield, or at the city clerk’s offices in each of the cities.  On Tuesday, voters can drop off their ballot at any polling location in Solano County or the Registrar’s office.

The Registrar has issued 121,860 vote-by-mail ballots for the Nov. 6^th election and about 50,000 vote-by-mail ballots had been received as of Thursday morning.  People requesting vote-by-mail ballots make up 58 percent of eligible voters in this election.

The Registrar also reminds vote-by-mail voters to sign their name in the signature box on the back of the ballot envelope.  Voters should not sign the actual ballot. 

People going to the polls to vote should check their sample ballot to find the address of their polling place.  Some polling places have changed since last election. Voters can also look up their polling place at www.solanocounty.com/elections.
