SOLANO COUNTY – Clicking on a red button at the top of www.solanocounty.com/elections can get you quickly registered to vote in the upcoming November election.
“The addition of online voter registration to our web page provides another vital tool voters can use to make informed decisions during an election,” said John Gardner, Deputy Registrar of Voters.
Web users must finish and submit the electronic form before midnight on Monday, Oct. 22. The online registrants will be able to print a receipt of their voter registration, or stay totally in the virtual world and have the receipt emailed to them.

Online registrants will need their California driver’s license or identification card number, the last four digits of their Social Security number, and their date of birth. The system automatically links up to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and retrieves a copy of the signature on file with the DMV.
People who do not have a California driver’s license or identification card can still use this form to register to vote by completing the online interview by midnight on Oct. 22. They will then have to print, sign, and mail the form to the address on the mailing label.

The online voter registration system is managed by the California Secretary of State’s office. While there are no costs to the County for accessing the system, it does have many benefits. The online voter registration speeds up the processing time. The approved and verified data is automatically populated into the local Registrar’s databases, which reduces the potential for data entry errors.
The County will see some savings as more people use the online voter registration, primarily a reduction in postage expenses and time spent manually validating the information on the voter registration document. Currently, approximately 70 percent of all voter registrations are conducted by mail.
Voters can also find their voting precinct and poll location, check their voter registration status and change their political party affiliation at www.solanocounty.com/elections.
