Branscombe Fire: Solano Blaze Burns 4K Acres, Sends Smoke To Bay
The Branscombe Fire, which was one of two fires to erupt Sunday morning, was reported shortly before 11 a.m.
SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- A fast-moving brush fire that erupted Sunday morning burned more than 4,700 acres in Solano County, sending plumes of smoke and ash across the Bay Area. As of Monday morning, the blaze was 70 percent contained.

The Branscombe Fire, which was one of two fires to erupt Sunday morning, was reported shortly before 11 a.m. in the Suisun District. It prompted the brief shutdown of Highway 12 before destroying two structures and damaging two cars, fire officials said.

Crews throughout the region quickly made headway on the vegetation fire, but it sparked alarm from residents as far as Santa Clara, Alameda and Napa counties, who called authorities believing there was a fire in their areas.
The blaze came amid a Red Flag Warning issued by the National Weather Service.
