Convicted Felon Arrested with Loaded .38 Caliber Pistol After Chase in Fairfield

An investigation into suspicious behavior in an alley on Ohio Street in Fairfield led to the arrest of a 22-year-old convicted felon Sunday. The subject, Kaylyn John Stewart, disposed of a .38 caliber pistol during a chase. 

According to the Fairfield Police Department, the call came in around 10:15 a.m. on Sunday. Here are the details: 

Police were investigating a report of suspicious people causing a disturbance in an alley at the 900 block of Ohio Street. Officers spotted a Black Male riding a bicycle that matched the clothing description of one person reported to be involved.

Officers attempted to stop the male on the bicycle in the 300 block of Jefferson Street. The male attempted to evade police on the bicycle and ignore the commands to stop. The male suspect was pursued down residential streets to the 700 block of Delaware Street, where he jumped off the bicycle and began running on foot. During the foot chase officers could see the suspect reaching into the front of his waistband. As officers gave chase the suspect reached into his waistband and then tossed a loaded .38 caliber pistol.

The suspect was quickly captured in the 500 block of Webster Street. The gun was recovered and the suspect had unexpended .38 caliber bullets in his hand at the time of his arrest. The suspect was identified as Kaylyn John Stewart, 22 years of Fairfield. He is a convicted felon currently on parole for robbery. 

Stewart was booked into the Solano County jail for the following charges: Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, and Parole Violation.
