Fairfield Bicyclist Hits Vehicle, In Critical Condition

According to police, the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Air Base Parkway and allegedly crossed the road against a red light.

FAIRFIELD - A 27-year-old Fairfield resident is in critical condition police said, after a collision that shut down a major road near Travis Air Force Base, Saturday night.

At 9:42 p.m., Fairfield officers responded to reports of a bicyclist being struck by a vehicle on Air Base Parkway at Clay Bank Road.

According to police, the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Air Base Parkway and allegedly crossed the road against a red light into on coming traffic.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Fairfield resident, was not injured and alcohol was not a factor in the collision.

The incident, which shut down Air Base Road for several hours, is being investigated.
