Fairfield Stop Nets Felon With Loaded Gun, Marijuana

When police stopped Luracious P. Wilkerson, they found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun and two glass jars loaded with marijuana.

FAIRFIELD - Fairfield Police say a traffic stop on a car in a convenience store parking lot led to the arrest of a felon carrying a loaded gun and marijuana.

Police say on January 26, about 11:00 p.m., a Fairfield police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the parking lot of a convenience mart within the 2900 block of Peabody Road.

The vehicle registration was expired. The driver was identified as Luracious P. Wilkerson, 28 years, from Suisun City. His license was suspended for several missed court appearances.

During the contact with Wilkerson, officers say they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The officer also saw two glass jars on the front passenger seat containing approximately two ounces of marijuana.

Wilkerson was ordered out of his vehicle and detained. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found under the driver’s seat.

Police say the gun had been reported stolen out of Pleasanton, CA. Additional investigation determined Wilkerson has a prior Felony conviction in his criminal history. Just under $1,000 in cash was seized as drug proceeds from Wilkerson.

Wilkerson was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail for being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Marijuana for Sale, Transporting Marijuana, and Driving with a Suspended License.

His bail was set at $50,000.
