Hwy 12 Crash Near Fairfield Leaves Motorcyclist, Driver Injured
The collision Monday sent a Harley-Davidson rider to a hospital with major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Two men were injured in a collision Monday morning on state Highway 12 just outside of Fairfield in unincorporated Solano County, according to California Highway Patrol officials. At 9:13 a.m., 63-year-old Kevin Patrick Sullivan of Sonoma was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Highway 12. He was traveling about 35 mph as he approached Red Top Road outside of Fairfield, CHP
officials said.
At the same time, 47-year-old Faycal Birem of Sacramento was in a Chevrolet that was stopped at the intersection of Red Top Road and Highway 12. Birem made a left turn onto Highway 12, directly in the path of Sullivan's motorcycle, CHP officials said.
Sullivan tried to avoid a collision, but was unable to stop in time. His motorcycle collided with the left rear of Birem's Chevrolet.

Sullivan was ejected and struck the Chevrolet. He suffered major injuries to his head and left leg, CHP officials said.
Birem pulled the Chevrolet over to the shoulder. He suffered pain to his back, CHP officials said.

Both drivers were taken to hospitals for treatment.
