SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A pedestrian who tried to retrieve his dog from traffic on state Highway 12 in Solano County on Friday was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to California Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian was walking his dog along Highway 12 when his dog got free and ran into the lanes near Lambie Road, according to CHP. The pedestrian chased the dog and was struck.

No alcohol or drugs expected to play a role in the collision, according to CHP.
