CORRECTED: Green Valley Man Dies From Injuries From Grad Party Incident

The Sheriff's office is looking at charges the suspected assailant could face now that the victim is dead

The 48-year-old Green Valley man who was assaulted during a Fairfield graduation party succumbed to his injuries Sunday at UC Davis Medical Center where he was taken for further treatment.

Roy Hellickson sustained a serious head injury when he fell during a physical altercation with Fairfield resident, 20-year-old Carson Bruce. Police arrested Bruce in connection with the fight and took him to the Solano County Jail, where he was held on a bail amount of $25,000.

“It obviously changed the direction of the investigation a little bit,” Solano Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Faulkner said.

Originally charged with assault with a deadly weapon, Faulkner said, “We have to look at the circumstances,” before deciding to charge Bruce differently.

Early Sunday morning, at 1:25 a.m., police officers went to a home on the 4500 block of Green Valley Road. Sheriff’s investigators discovered that Hellickson became upset at Carson’s behavior towards another party guest.

The two men got into a fight and Hellickson fell and hit his head on the ground. Paramedics performed CPR on Hellickson before transporting him to Northbay Medical Center. Hellickson was later transported to UC Davis Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Correction: Sheriff's office reports listed Hellickson's wrong city of residence as Suisun City. Hellickson is from Green Valley, an unincorporated region of Solano County near Fairfield.
