Teen Suspected In String Of Fairfield Robberies: Police

Police in an undercover operation allegedly saw a male matching the suspect's description hiding in bushes, watching cars approach.

FAIRFIELD, CA — Fairfield police have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of committing a string of robberies in March and April. Detectives have linked Fairfield resident Daviyon McClure to five of eight robberies that occurred between March 25 and April 23 in the 500 block of Alaska Avenue, police said. The three other robberies remain under investigation.

The suspect in the robberies was described as a black male in his late teens who is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and wore a hood to hide his face, police said. The suspect was armed with a kitchen-style knife when he demanded money and property from the victims.

During an undercover operation where the robberies occurred, police saw a male matching the suspect's description hiding in bushes as he watched people and vehicles approach. The male, later identified as McClure, fled when detectives approached him and he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, police said.

Police said some items that were taken during the robberies were found when they searched a residence in the 500 block of Alaska Avenue were McClure was staying.

McClure was booked in Solano County Jail on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and being armed during the commission of a felony.
