Train with a World Champion at Fairfield PAL!

Join the PAL Kajukenbo Club and enhance your martial arts skills, track your progress with belts and more under the guidance and support of

The PAL Kajukenbo meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30pm. Kajukenbo is an American hybrid martial art. The name Kajukenbo is a portmanteau of the various arts from which its style is derived: KA for Karate and Tang Soo Do Korean Karate, JU for Judo and Jujutsu, KEN for Kenpo and BO for Western and Chinese Boxing.

The program is led by Coach Anthony Marquez has been the kickboxing and martial arts teacher for the PAL program since it opened in November of 2008. His successful teaching career in martial arts started in 1978, when he began teaching self-defense to women and children in Hawaii. In 1982, he won the Professional World Karate Association Full Contact Championship, which is a title he held until his retirement in 1989. Coach Anthony’s classes’ focus on building a strong mind, body and spirit connection. He promotes humility, respect for others, and most importantly, respect for oneself while teaching basic and advanced skills.

Kajukenbo builds more than martial arts and self-defense skills. Members:

  • increase their flexibility, strength, and endurance
  • develops patience, self-control, self-respect and discipline
  • practice teamwork, make new friends, and strengthen connections with the PAL program

The spring session will kick off on April 3,2023, and train Mondays through Fridays from 4pm to 5:30pm. The session will end June 30, 2023.

Space will be limited for this session and no drop-in spots will be offered. PAL members can call 707 330 8757 to sign up.

For safety reasons, late entry is not allowed. After three unexcused absences, members will be moved to the waitlist. The Fairfield Kajukenbo program is a co-ed recreational program, and no experience or try-outs are required.

While no special gear is needed, members must come ready to train in workout clothes with a water bottle.

A PAL membership is required to participate. Fairfield PAL is open to Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis teens ages 13-18 who are enrolled in middle or high school. Memberships are available at the Fairfield Community Center (1000 Kentucky Street in Fairfield) with a valid student ID and a parent or guardian’s signature. The Fairfield PAL Program is open to Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis Students ages 13-18 who are enrolled in school. Membership is FREE and can be applied for at the Fairfield Community Center (1000 Kentucky Street) with a current ID and parent / guardian signature. The PAL Center’s drop-in program is currently closed as we prepare to re-open at after a remodel. Fairfield PAL uses the fun of recreation to engage teens and build great qualities.
