A fast-moving grass fire that spread to a Fairfield motel TuesdayΒ evening has forced the motel's evacuation, at least untilΒ Wednesday, a fireΒ battalion chief said.
The fire was first reported at aboutΒ 7 p.m.Β near the junction ofΒ Interstate Highway 80 and Suisun Valley Road, fire officials said.
A three-alarm response was called as the fire was moving quicklyΒ and threatening structures in the area. However, firefighters were unable toΒ prevent the fire from reaching a nearby Motel 6.
Firefighters contained the grass fire to between an acre and anΒ acre-and-a-half, but the damage to the motel forced firefighters to call forΒ its evacuation untilΒ Wednesday, when the damage can be better assessed,Β Battalion Chief Bob Stoffel said.
No one was injured.
