Vacaville Man Arrested in Resident's Beating Death on July 4th

A Vacaville man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man who was severely beaten at a Fourth of July celebration, according to police.

Anthony Jose Ruiz, 31, was arrested Friday on suspicion of manslaughter, probation violation and a narcotics-related warrant in connection with the death of Tyler Grande, Vacaville police said Saturday.

Grande, a 20-year-old Vacaville resident, was found at 11:55 p.m. on July 4, in the 100 block of Garden Circle. He was unconscious and suffering from a head injury, police stated.

An estimated 200 people were taking part in the celebration, but police could not locate anyone who saw how Grande was injured.

Grande had surgery to relieve swelling of the brain, but died July 15 due to traumatic brain injury.

Detectives tracked Ruiz to the 100 block of Rutherford Drive on Friday and attempted to arrest him on an unrelated warrant. He allegedly attempted to flee but was captured a short time later and was charged with Grande's killing, after an interview.
