Veterans Day Ceremony Monday in Martinez

The ceremonies, which will be dedicated "To all Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans," will include messages from Martinez Mayor Rob Schroder.

War veterans will be honored Monday in Martinez as part of the national Veterans Day.

Ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Alhambra Cemetery with a benediction, Bag Piper, placing of the wreath, and the pledge of allegiance. 

The ceremonies are dedicated "To all Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans" will resume at the All Veterans Monument at Berrellesa Street and Alhambra Avenue at 11 a.m.

The program at the monument will include messages from Mayor Rob Schroder, a letter from Congressman George Miller, Supervisor Federal D. Glover, and Veterans Day Message from Tom Prado, Retired Marine All Iraq War Veteran.

The National Anthem will be sung by Steven D. Powell, NCI U.S. Navy Leading Petty Officer and remembrance Veterans Commissioner Scott Alstad. The ceremonies will conclude with the 21 gun salute by the American Legion Post 29 & VFW Post 1351 and Taps by Jennifer Oertel.

After the ceremony, refreshments will be served at the Veterans Building, 930 Court Street. The community is invited to attend.
