Disappearing, Reappearing Bus Shelters In Southwest Riverside County? It's A Thing
It's not your imagination. Here's what's going on.
SOUTHWEST RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Wait, what is going on with local bus shelters in Southwest Riverside County? Are they disappearing then reappearing?
Yes, and it's all part of a Riverside Transit Agency rehab project.
According to RTA, improvements are underway at 30 bus shelters throughout the Riverside Transit Agency service area, including Banning, Highgrove, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Murrieta, Norco, Perris, Riverside, Temecula and Wildomar.

The work began in October and is expected to finish in December. Each of the 30 shelters is being removed, repaired, repainted, and reinstalled at its current location, according to RTA. The work at each site takes about three days. During this time, riders can continue to use the bus stops as usual — there is no interruption in bus service.
The upgrades are designed to provide riders with increased comfort, enhanced safety features, and improved accessibility, according to RTA.
