Airbnb Helps Defeat More In-Depth Look at Venice Short-Term Rentals

Airbnb, one of several online rental websites for booking accommodations, played a role in the recent defeat of a potential ban or better regulation and code enforcement of short-term vacation rentals in Venice, according to a curbed la report.

Peers, an "advocacy group" cofounded by an Airbnb employee that "lobbied for California's loosely-regulated legalization of ridesharing companies like Lyft," according to the la.curbed.com report, got involved in the Venice Neighborhood Council's attempt to propose a motion for City of Los Angeles to take a better look at short-term rentals, and perhaps add regulations. 

The end result was a motion that was voted down.
