Eight-Home Tract Goes on Sale in Mar Vista
The project features eco-friendly materials, such as balcony railings made of redwood recycled from an old airplane hanger.

From an edited press release:
A new, eight-home development is now for sale at the corner of East Boulevard and Washington Place in Mar Vista.
Appropriately named “8 East,” the tract is designed to meet the city of Los Angeles’ small lot ordinance, featuring three story homes which border a driveway court.

Designed by noted Killefer Flammang Architects, which is mainly known as a designer of big, multifamily projects, floor plans include three bedrooms and three baths, in areas ranging from 1,700-2,000 square feet, said Wade Killefer, KFA design principal.
“To appeal to our sophisticated market, we’ve tried very hard to merge sustainability with current technology,” said the architect, referring to the balcony railings made of redwood recycled from an old airplane hanger and LED light fixtures, which are planned to never burn out.

“Also, of particular interest to buyers will be the large roof decks with gas barbecue hookups and dramatic 360-degree views,” added the developer, Joe Killefer, son of the architect.
Design highlights include 600 square feet of unencumbered space on the second level of each home and 11-foot ceilings. On the third level are two bedrooms and two baths. Balconies inset on the second and third floors are faced with mosaics.
All of the homes include a private garage and bedroom and bath on the ground floor, said developer Killefer.
The exterior materials include redwood, large format porcelain tile panel in blue, gray and white tones, and raised hardwood tile at the roof decks.
The homes are priced from $889,000 to $1.2 million and marketed by The Partners Trust.
