Man's Jump From Construction Crane Snarls West LA Traffic

The Metro Sepulveda/Expo Station was shut down Thursday while authorities investigate an apparent suicide on Sepulveda Boulevard.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man committed suicide Thursday by jumping from a crane at a construction site in West Los Angeles.

Police were called to the 2400 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, near Exposition Boulevard at 9:55 a.m., said Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man, in his 30s, died at the scene, the coroner's office reported. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

Due to the resulting investigation, the adjacent Metro Sepulveda/Expo Station was closed, with Expo Line trains bypassing the station. Metro officials said buses were brought in to shuttle affected passengers through the area, an effort that was continuing about 1 p.m.
