Missing Swimmer Rescued

Los Angeles County lifeguards and City firefighters rescued a swimmer who had been missing off the Venice Fishing Pier, a fire department official said.

The search began by air and water for the swimmer at about 9:30 p.m. off the pier at Washington Boulevard and Ocean Front Walk, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Main.

The swimmer was rescued at about 10:10 p.m. and taken to a hospital in
serious condition, Main said.
