Mother Seeks Justice For Daughter Killed In Venice
Ky Thomas was killed in December 2020 — but her killer has never been found.

VENICE, CA — It's been two years since Ky Thomas was shot and killed on the Venice Beach boardwalk. Her mother wants to find out what happened.
Thomas was shot about 5:25 p.m. Dec. 1 in the area of Ocean Front Walk and 17th Avenue and died at a hospital, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
At the time, the department said the shooting was gang-related.

Thomas' mother, Cortlyn Bridges, said her daughter, a mother of a daughter and son, was not a gang member.
“I want justice for my daughter. The killers have not been found,” Bridges told ABC7.

At least one suspect was taken into custody following the shooting. The search continues for the other three suspects.
Bridges is urging local leaders to offer a reward to help find the people responsible for her daughter's death. It appears a $50,000 reward was offered in 2020, according to a tweet from Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Bonin.
“I’ve contacted the city councilman, the governor, the mayor, nothing’s been done,” Bridges said.
She believes someone knows what happened.
“These people in this area, in this community, they know. Everybody who was shooting videos that evening, you guys know,” Bridges said.
She wants to create a memorial site in Venice and establish a college fund for her children, and launched a Change.org petition.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call LAPD West Bureau homicide investigators at 213-382-9470. Those wishing to report anonymously can call at 800-222-TIPS.
