Police Search For Attacker In Random Venice Assault

Do you recognize this man captured on video in a random attack on a Venice Street?

VENICE, CA — Los Angeles police detectives asked for the public's help Friday in identifying a male assault suspect who seriously injured a man in the Venice area.

The assault happened June 30 outside a restaurant in the 9200 block of Venice Boulevard, police said.

A 28-year-old man standing outside the restaurant was punched by the suspect without warning and knocked unconscious. The victim suffered severe head injuries and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene with another man and a woman in a white, four-door sedan.

The assault suspect was described as a Hispanic, 18 to 21 years old with curly hair. He was somewhere between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed between 190 and 200 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray pants, white socks with red and white sandals.

His male companion was Hispanic, between 17 and 20 years old, with dark hair.

He stood about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed between 140 and 150 pounds.

He last was seen wearing a black shirt with a design on front, blue jeans, with holes in the knees and black tennis shoes.

The woman seen with the suspect also was Hispanic, 17 to 20 years old. She wore glasses and dark hair in a ponytail.

She was last seen wearing a gray and black jacket, gray shirt, blue jeans and white shoes with a black stripe.
