Street Closures To Watch Out For CicLAvia in Venice-Mar Vista This Sunday

Washington and Venice boulevards and other streets along the route will be closed to cars between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

CULVER CITY, CA -- The popular CicLAvia returns to Culver City and Venice this Sunday and it will mean traffic headaches for motorists.

Bicyclists, pedestrians and others using non-motorized modes of transportation will replace car traffic along six miles of streets in Culver City and Venice for the 20th edition of CicLAvia.

Washington and Venice boulevards and other streets along the route -- which is bookended by the Culver City Metro Expo Line Station and Venice Beach -- will be closed to cars between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. A number of bus lines along the route are also affected. Organizers advise riders to check the CicLAvia website to see if their stops are affected.

The streets affected by the closures are:

  • Main Street from Venice Way to Market Street
  • Windward Avenue from Riviera Avenue to Speedway
  • Windward Circle
  • Grand Boulevard from Venice Boulevard to Windward Circle
  • Centinela Avenue from Venice Boulevard to Washington Place
  • Washington Place from Centinela to Tilden Avenue
  • Washington Boulevard from Tilden Avenue to Watseka Avenue
  • Bagley Avenue/Main Street from Venice Boulevard to Culver Boulevard
  • Washington Boulevard from Canfield Avenue to National Boulevard

Hubs featuring activities and food stalls are sprinkled throughout the route at the Mar Vista Farmers Market, Tellefson Park, Venice Beach and downtown Culver City.

Landmarks along the way include Muscle Beach and Ocean Front Walk in Venice, King Fahad Mosque, Museum of Jurassic Technology, Sony Pictures Studios, Ballona Creek Bike Path and Helms Bakery.
