The Buzz on Bees: SLOLA Hosts HoneyLove

HoneyLove co-founder and Mar Vista resident Rob McFarland will be the guest speaker at Seed Library of Los Angeles' Venice Learning Garden.

HoneyLove co-founder and Mar Vista resident Rob McFarland will be the guest speaker at Seed Library of Los Angeles' Venice Learning Garden free event on Sat. June 15 to discuss the buzz on urban beekeeping.

The Seed Library of Los Angeles will host Mar Vista's Rob McFarland - who together with his wife Chelsea  - founded the nonprofit organization HoneyLove to promote legalized beekeeping in Los Angeles.

The event will take place at Venice High's Learning Garden on Sat. June 15 at 2:30 p.m. McFarland will talk about what has been contributing to Colony Collapse Disorder and why bees are so important for your garden. Other issues that will be addressed include what people can do to help the honeybees survive, that doesn't require actually bee-coming a beekeeper.

The Learning Garden is located at Venice High School, 1300 Venice Blvd., 90291. Entrance is on Walgrove Avenue.
