Venice Neighborhood Council Candidate: Justin Henry

Patch asked the VNC candidates a few questions to help voters decide in the Oct. 28 election.

Editor’s note: This is one of several articles in a series of profiles on Venice candidates.

My biggest priority would be to prioritize ways that Venice will get a more equitable share of services from the city, county and state. Venice is the leading tourist destination in LA yet we receive minimal support in the way of police, beautification, trash collection, etc..We provide open arms to millions of visitors each year.  Our residents and our visitors should be provided with the best possible services. People will treat our city the way we treat it. We can do better, and the city can help.

Who are your primary supporters?

My primary supports are long time Venice residents, and business owners who are interested in keeping Venice local, livable and prosperous.

What issue do you feel most strongly about and what’s your position?

The major issue facing Venice is development and land use. We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of urban developments, and must be sure all new projects meet the needs of the community and not the developers. Local, sustainable and prosperous development.

What's one thing most constituents don't know about you?

That I am the youngest person ever nominated for an Academy Award for my role in  Kramer vs. Kramer. I am also an entrepreneur, father and avid musician.

If this is your first time running, why did you decide to run?

This is my first time running. I decided to run, because I feel a need to be involved in things that matter most to me. I would like to be a part of  Venice's future rather than simply a commentator on its past.
