Victims of the Aug. 3 vehicular tragedy on the Venice Boardwalk testified Tuesday in the preliminary hearing of defendant Nathan Louis Campbell in a Los Angeles Superior Court courtroom.
Campbell was driving a 2008 Dodge Avenger when it made its way onto the Boardwalk, hitting people and objects in its path. A newlywed from Bologna, Italy, Alice Gruppioni, 32, died from injuries sustained in the incident; 16 were injured.
Campbell's preliminary hearing will resume Wednesday. He has been charged with murder, assault, and hit and run.
The Tuesday court session followed the first one held about a month ago. The delay was due to scheduling the return of out-of-area tourists who saw the incident. After preliminary hearing testimony, a judge will decide if there is sufficient evidence to hold Campbell for trial on any charges.
