Maintenance Worker Fatally Struck By Car In Walnut Creek
The victim was rushed to a hospital where he died from significant injuries, police said.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A maintenance worker died from injuries suffered when he was hit by a car Monday in Walnut Creek, police said.
Dispatchers received a 911 call at 1:21 p.m. Monday about a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Ygnacio Valley Road, east of the intersection at Lennon Lane, Walnut Creek police Lt. Holley Connors said.
Officers found a male pedestrian conscious, but suffering from significant injuries.

Preliminary details indicated the driver’s vehicle drifted to the right, hopped the curb, and struck the pedestrian who was doing maintenance work at that location, Connors said.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Officers and AMR emergency medical personnel provided medical aid to the pedestrian before he was transported to the hospital.
"Unfortunately, the pedestrian later succumbed to his injuries," Connors said.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers.
The cause of this accident remained under investigation.
