WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek police are still searching for a second suspect in an early morning armed gas station robbery and shooting.

Two masked suspects entered the Kwik Serve Gas Station at 1387 S. California Blvd. early Sunday and shot a gas station employee who tried to keep them from stealing cigarettes, according to the Walnut Creek Police Department.

Police said it appears that the suspects entered the store shortly before 3:54 a.m. and tried to steal the cigarettes. The employee confronted the suspects, leading to a struggle, during which the employee was shot, police said.

Police arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the robbery at 6 p.m.
