Walnut Creek Among Richest Retirement Towns In U.S.

With a median income of more than $129,000, Walnut Creek was in the top 10 richest retirement towns in America.

WALNUT CREEKS, CA — Walnut Creek was among the top 10 richest retirement communities in the nation according to a study from Go Banking Rates.

According to the study, 29.3 percent of the city's population is 65 years of age or older and the median household income is $129,971.

To determine the results of the study. Go Banking Rates looked at all U.S. cities with a population of over 15,000 and a population of people aged 65 years of age and older over 25 percent. The study was narrowed down to 131 cities and the median household incomes in those cities were compared.

"All data was found within the 2022 American Community Survey as conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau," the study's creators said.

California boasted the largest amount of rich retirement towns on the list with Rancho Palos Verdes, Laguna Beach, Cerritos and Novato adding to the total of five. Rancho Palos Verdes topped the list with a median income of $166,747, according to the study.

Florida had the second-most rich retirement towns with four cities making the list.
