Former L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan Endorses Nick Melvoin for West Hollywood LAUSD Board Seat
Melvoin said he was honored to have the former mayor's endorsement because of Riordan's commitment to the community and children.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan on Wednesday formally endorsed Nick Melvoin for School Board.
“I have known Nick for years and always admired his dedication to public service and his thoughtful and innovative ideas to improve our city. Based on his time teaching in Watts, Nick understands the challenges our students face and has the vision we need for improving our schools,” Riordan said in a prepared statement. “When I ran for mayor, my motto was ‘tough enough to turn LA around.’ I am supporting Nick because I believe he is tough enough to turn LAUSD around.”
Melvoin said he was honored to have the former mayor's endorsement because of Riordan's commitment to the community and children.

"I look forward to building upon his work for LA’s families,” he said.
Melvoin is a graduate of Harvard University and the New York University School of Law. He previously held positions with the ACLU, the White House Domestic Policy Council and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
