The Last of the Greatest Generation, by author J Robert Gould, debuts today and is available in bookstores nationally, plus in the EU, CA, UK, and AU. The fast-paced mystery cleverly travels between two timelines and offers generational love stories.
The author, J Robert Gould, has aligned with Fort Myers’ based nonprofit veterans organization Hearts and Homes for Veterans, whose mission is to end homelessness for veterans in Southwest Florida, and then help them do the same for others. For every sale of The Last of the Greatest Generation, the author will donate some of the proceeds to the organization.

“I had the great luck to spend time with two veterans of World War II,” said author J Robert Gould. “These two men had a way of carrying themselves that is indicative of the everyday heroes that made up the last greatest generation. The first veteran was the inspiration for the book. He was my father-in-law John Abplanalp, who we called Papa John, and who is referred to by the same name in the book. He was so humble about his time in WWII, and never thought about his service beyond something he felt he had to do. The other was my former father-in-law, Robert “Shorty” Gallagher, who also served in the Navy during the same time.”
The Last of the Greatest Generation effortlessly blends history with fiction, and honors the brave men who served our country in WWII, while never diminishing the tragic human toll it took for the global deaths of 50 - 55 million.
