I enjoyed reading a brand new book out last week, sent to me by an East Coast publisher. This book blew me away, and you will be, too. It's called "The Last of the Greatest Generation," and it's the first book by author J Robert Gould.

The story is intense and took me right in, with a reporter battling a drinking problem and barely functioning, a world war two vet hiding something so big he suffers every day and night just thinking about it, and a pretty incredible love story. What I love about the book is that it is not a typical mystery about war. These characters seem real, and I started yelling at the reporter first and then rooting for him pretty soon after.

The veteran, Papa John, reminds me of every grandfather or great-grandfather I've ever known who served in a war. I love how Papa John is so humble, and never once shared (or bragged) about his intense role in world war two. The greatest generation, if you don't know, was the generation that served in World War II. Believe me, these men, women, and families had it tough but worked together to survive, existing on rations, war, death, etc, and fear.

I do not want to give anything away, but you will love the American spirit in this book.

It was so surprising to read such a well-rounded, family-oriented story about a war veteran, who is the last living world war two veteran in the book, and how his humility did something incredible almost 70 years after the war!

I highly recommend this book. It is available in all bookstores, but you probably have to order it online on your favorite store's site, like Barnes and Noble, Amazon, your Indie store, etc.
